Spurs are preparing an end of season bid for Max Meyer.

According to a report in The Sun Mauricio Pochettino will wait till the end of the season to put in a £30m bid for the Schalke 04 midfielder.

At that stage Meyer will be in the final year of his contract leaving Schalke with the dilemma of whether to accept the offer or risk the prospect of the midfielder running down the final 12 months of his contract and quitting in 2018.

Schalke would be entitled to a development fee for Meyer but that would be way under £1m and only a fraction of his value on the open market.

Spurs made an enquiry about the German internationalist during the summer transfer window but were scared off when they were quoted fee of £45m.

Pochettino, who has just signed up Hugo Lloris onto a new contract through until 2022, is keen to bring the best young talent in the game to White Hart Lane and has also been linked with Everton’s Ross Barkley.
