Manchester United face competition from China for John Obi Mikel.
According to a report in The Standard Chinese outfit Shanghai SIPG have contacted the players agent to enquire about his availability.
Mikel hasn’t played a single minute for Chelsea and is out of contract at the end of the season.
Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move for his former midfielder but Chelsea would rather sell to a club outside the Premier League.
Shanghai SIPG are now managed by Andrea Villas-Boas who worked with the midfielder at Stamford Bridge.
The Chinese side would be able to offer a salary in the region of £170,000/week which is £100,000/week more than his current contract.
Mikel can agree a pre-contract agreement next month but is likely to cut his ties completely with Chelsea prepared to let him move on for free provided it’s not to a rival club.
The Nigerian joined Chelsea in 2006 in a complex deal from Lyn Oslo after appearing to have signed for Manchester United.
