Manuel Pellegrini has described Claudio Bravo as the best goalkeeper in the world!

According to a report in The Sun the former Manchester City boss believes that the English press have got a downer on the new City number one.

Bravo has had a troubled season since taking over from Joe Hart as Pep Guardiola’s first choice keeper.

Hart had a difficult time during Euro 2016 but was shocked when he returned to City in pre-season to hear Guardiola’s verdict that he needed to bring in a new keeper.

In August City paid Barcelona £15m for Bravo with their former boss believing that it is money well spent despite a series of blunders including a Champions League red card on his return to the Nou Camp.

He is criticised a lot but Claudio Bravo is the best goalkeeper in the world,” Pellegrini said. “The English press are very hard on him, as they are with the entire world.

And if Bravo has gone from Real Sociedad to Barcelona and Barcelona to Man City it is because he is the best goalkeeper in the world.”

Since taking over from Hart Bravo has only managed three clean sheets, on Saturday he lost three goals to Chelsea as City slipped to fourth place in the table, four points behind Chelsea.
