Liverpool have been linked with Paris St Germain striker Jese Rodriguez.

According to a report in The Daily Mail the president of Las Palmas has claimed that his club are looking to take Rodriguez on loan but face competition from Liverpool, Roma and Milan.

Rodriguez joined PSG in the summer from Real Madrid but has only scored two goals, one in the French League Cup and one in Ligue 1.

With Saido Mane on international duty next month at the African Nations Cup Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring in another striker.

Speaking about the prospect of Rodriguez joining Las Palmas club president Ramirez told Ls Provincia: β€œHe wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high.

β€œLiverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns. We cannot afford that salary.

β€œWith respect to other clubs, we are at a disadvantage and hence we have to wait. But we don’t want to create false expectations.”

The return to fitness of Daniel Sturridge and his goal against Stoke will have gone some way towards easing Klopp’s concerns about the absence of Mane.

With Philippe Coutinho also close to full fitness Klopp shouldn’t be caught short next month but the addition of one more striker could make a massive difference as to how the season works out.
