Chelsea are expected to make a bid for Arturo Vidal of Bayern Munich.
According to a report in the Express Antonio Conte is ready to bid £42m to sign the defender who he spent three seasons with at Juventus.
Vidal is reportedly keen for a move away from Bayern with the only criteria being that he moves to a club that can provide him with Champions League football.
Conte is on the look out for central defenders that are comfortable playing three at the with Vidal well versed in that system from their time together at Juve.
Virgil van Dijk of Southampton is one option that Chelsea are looking at but with both Manchester clubs also involved the price for the Dutch defender could go through the roof if it turns into an auction.
Conte’s dynamic start to the season has reignited the enthusiasm of Roman Abrramovich who has promised his manager significant transfer funds in January and next summer.
