Antonio Conte is going to use his £60m Oscar windfall to reinforce his defence.

According to a report in The Standard Conte is planning to use some of the money to bring in Virgil van Dijk from Southampton with the remainder going on a a full-back.

The deal to take Oscar to Shanghai SIPG still has a number of obstacles to overcome but it seems as if the basics for the deal have been agreed between the two clubs and the player.

Oscar hasn’t featured in a Chelsea match since August with the little Brazilian only making six competitive appearances all season.

Conte had claimed that Oscar still had a future with Chelsea but clearly a £60m bid for a player outside of the first XI changes things.

Chelsea will need to move quickly if they are to sign van Dijk with the four big clubs from Manchester and Liverpool reported to be interested.

Southampton are looking for at least £40m for the Dutch defender but with a big cheque coming in for Oscar Chelsea won’t have any problem meeting Southampton’s asking price.
