West Ham United star not heading anywhere this January

|

Having rejected a new contract with West Ham United in May, Reece Oxford is now ready to sign a new long-term deal with the Hammers worth over £1 million-a-year, report the London Evening Standard.

Having been closely trailed by both Manchester United and Manchester City since his May rejection, the 17-year-old is set to finally commit to Slaven Bilic’s side in a five-year deal that will be worth £20,000-a-week plus add-ons.

Becoming West Ham United’s youngest ever player when making his competitive debut against FC Lusitanos back in July 2015, the teenager is one of the Hammers’ most highly-rated youth products in years.

Showcasing his huge potential when starting West Ham United’s opening day victory over Arsenal last season, Oxford drew huge praise for marking Mesut Ozil out of that fixture.

Capable of playing at centre back or in defensive midfield, Oxford is also an England Under-20 international who will now look forward to increased game time at London Stadium.

With Oxford having been used sparingly amidst his refusal to pen a new contract, perhaps the teenager is somebody Bilic can now depend upon as West Ham United look to turn their slow start to the season around.
