Scoring a brace against Luxembourg in World Cup Qualifying last night, Everton target Memphis Depay has refused to rule out a January transfer away from Manchester United, report The Independent.

Having only made a single start against Northampton Town in the EFL Cup under Jose Mourinho this term, Memphis is craving regular game time but is firmly behind Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order right now.

Speaking about his immediate future following last night’s game on Netherlands duty, Memphis claimed: “I do not know, we’ll have to see.

“I focus on United, I do my very best to be able to get minutes. I’m going back to United with a good feeling because I have got minutes here [on international duty] and we won. That is the most important thing.”

The words of a man who knows game time at Old Trafford is going to be extremely difficult to come by, a January loan switch to Ronald Koeman’s Everton looks a realistic prospect on paper.

With Romelu Lukaku having pretty much scored half of the Toffees’ total haul of 15 strikes so far this term, Everton could really benefit from an additional goalscoring forward.

While the club brought in Yannick Bolasie for £25 million in the summer, he’s hardly a prolific goalscorer so you can see why Everton are trailing Memphis who scored 39 goals in 90 Eredivisie appearances for PSV Eindhoven.
