The 5 most believable Everton January rumours

Lamine Kone to Everton

Back in October, the Sunderland Echo ran a story which claimed Sunderland defender Lamine Kone was ‘disappointed’ to miss out on a summer transfer to Everton.

Signing a new five-year deal with the Black Cats in September, the sceptics will claim this was only agreed in order to push up the Ivorian’s price tag.

If Sunderland are still struggling at the foot of the Premier League table come January, perhaps David Moyes’ side may decide to cash in on Kone who has after all, gone public in his admiration of Everton.

Just like Strootman being a successor for Gareth Barry, Phil Jagielka isn’t getting any younger and with 27-year-old Kone highly-rated despite Sunderland’s current predicament, perhaps Koeman could resurrect a bid.
