Kevin Strootman to Everton

Having suffered badly with injuries in his career to date, this hasn’t put Everton off the prospect of landing Roma’s Netherlands international midfielder Kevin Strootman this January.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, there appears to be something to this rumour considering the fact the Giallorossi are preparing a new deal for Strootman amidst Everton’s interest.

While Strootman has kept himself fit this term while being used extensively by Luciano Spalletti, you cannot underestimate the spending power of the Premier League compared to other European divisions nowadays.

A transfer to Goodison Park would mean Strootman could work with a Dutch football legend in Ronald Koeman while a reported asking price of £17.1 million is well within the Toffees’ grasp nowadays.

With Gareth Barry now 35-years-old, despite the former England international going strong, Everton do need to think about signing his long-term successor and Strootman could be that.
