Having forged a key member of Rafael Benitez’s Championship promotion chasing squad this term, Newcastle United are pondering a new deal for Yoan Gouffran, report Chronicle Live.

With the report claiming “talk of a contract extension has been floated”, this has been in response to Gouffran’s surprising form so far this term, making 13 Championship appearances while scoring three league goals.

Additionally, it has also been recently suggested that Ligue 1 side Lille are preparing a January approach for Gouffran with the 30-year-old set to receive a two-and-a-half-year offer from Les Dogues.

With Lorient having also been credited with an interest in Gouffran’s signature, it appears the Frenchman will have a big decision to make over the next few months.

A Magpies player since 2013, Gouffran has now made over 100 league appearances for Newcastle United but under-used in the clubs’ relegation campaign last term, this has made the Frenchman’s renaissance all the more surprising.
