Aden Flint (Bristol City)
Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark have been Rafael Benitez’s trusted centre back pairing on most occasions so far this term but if they are to return to the Premier League, they’ll need more depth in the position.
While Grant Hanley and Chancel Mbemba wait in reserve, somebody else who emerged on the Magpies’ radar in the summer was Bristol City defender Aden Flint.
Remaining with the Robins in the summer, the giant 6 ft 5 in centre back has been part of an impressive Bristol City squad so far this term and if Newcastle United are closing in on promotion and decide to swoop again, it could be a hard proposition for Flint to turn down.
Flint is also not all about defending with the former Swindon Town man boasting a cracking goalscoring record for a defender, registering 23 goals in 116 appearances for Bristol City.
