5 players Newcastle United should be targeting in January

Too big a player to sign at St. James’ Park?

According to a recent report, Newcastle United recently deployed scouts at Benfica’s Champions League fixture with Dynamo Kiev and while there was no confirmation about who they might’ve been watching, speculation has mounted nonetheless.

Scoring the only goal in that game was former Sunderland target Eduardo Salvio with the Argentine international having been at Estadio da Luz since 2012.

A skillful winger by trade, it would take big money to prize Salvio away from Portugal but remember, Newcastle United aren’t short of cash right now.

With Rafael Benitez looking to build real momentum ahead of a Premier League return, if all is still on course by January, the Magpies should be looking to sign a high calibre of player such as Salvio.

After all, it’s about time Newcastle United got it right with a top quality winger to emulate Hatem Ben Arfa’s days at St. James’ Park with both Remy Cabella and Florian Thauvin failing on that front.
