Sam Johnstone (Manchester United)
Roberto Di Matteo brought in fellow Italian Pierluigi Gollini in the summer and while many thought Steve Bruce may give Mark Bunn a run in the side when he was appointed, this hasn’t been the case.
Former Hellas Verona stopper Gollini has remained in goal for the Villans but with Villa fans having grown used to the consistency of Brad Guzan down the years, the Italian isn’t the ideal choice for many.
Back in October, it was reported that Steve Bruce was tracking Manchester United stopper Sam Johnstone and on paper, this looks a sensible move.
Not going to receive any first team chances at Old Trafford anytime soon, Johnstone is used to competing at Championship level having spent time on loan at Preston North End last season.
While many Football League clubs will be looking to sign Johnstone in January, Aston Villa will certainly be one of the biggest stages for him to play at however.
