It didn’t even sound like a tennis score but last night fans throughout Europe were amazed by the goings on in Dortmund as 12 goals were shared in a Champions League match for the first time.

At the end of the amazing/ridiculous 90 minutes Borussia Dortmund had beaten Legia Warsaw 8-4 with both sets of video analysts on overtime for the rest of the week.

The result means that Dortmund require a draw away to Real Madrid on matchday six to top Group F while Legia need to beat Sporting Lisbon at home to salvage a place in the Europa League.

For Steffen Potter of UEFA.com it meant the busiest night of his career as the Dortmund reporter chronicled six goals scored between the 17th and 32nd minutes as Dortmund established a 5-1 lead at half-time.

Legia did manage to share the goals after the break but their return to the Champions League group phase has certainly been eventful with goals galore, fireworks and crowd trouble and a fan ban for their 3-3 home draw with Real Madrid.
