Despite adequately reinforcing their defence with the signing of Shkodran Mustafi, talkSPORT report that Arsenal have received a boost due to Kostas Manolas rejecting a new deal at Roma.

According to Italian source CalcioMercatoWeb, Roma’s package worth £42,000-a-week isn’t enough for the Greek international who is expecting more after an impressive two years in the Italian capital.

The former Olympiakos man has been a long-term target of the Gunners and is also interesting Chelsea leading up to the January transfer window.

Currently on a wages of £34,000-a-week at Stadio Olimpico, cash-rich Premier League sides would be able to better that arrangement although Manolas has so far resisted the temptations of an English switch.

Currently 25-years-old, Manolas is clearly at the peak of his career right now and with his current deal expiring in 2019, this latest rejection will only fuel new rumours that he could jump ship from Luciano Spalletti’s side.
