Manchester United are still effectively employing a winger at right back in Antonio Valencia but they won’t be replacing him with Monaco full back Fabinho any time soon, report Teamtalk.com.

Linked with an Old Trafford switch throughout the summer transfer window, the 22-year-old ended up signing a new deal with Monaco last month and has now poured cold water on any further speculation.

Speaking to French outlet L’Equipe, Fabinho claimed: “I could have already done it, but I’m under contract here.

“I feel good here. I’m an important player in one of the best teams in the league.”

Under the terms of Fabinho’s new deal at Stade Louis II, the Brazilian international will remain with the Principality outfit until 2021 and with Leonardo Jardim’s side enjoying Champions League football nowadays, he appears more than content.

With Matteo Darmian still heavily linked with a Red Devils exit in January, you’d imagine that Jose Mourinho would be keen on signing a replacement with only young Timothy Fosu-Mensah as an alternative option right now.
