West Ham launch transfer approach for La Liga prodigy; Key Spurs trio set for new deals

Centre-Back - Jan Vertonghen

According to The Daily Star, West Ham have launched a transfer approach for Levante midfielder Victor Camarasa; whilst London Evening Standard claim Tottenham Hotspur are close to tying Erik Lamela, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen down to improved contracts.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of Spanish football’s most exciting youngsters and has been in decent form this season, notching up two goals and three assists from central midfield, but currently represents a Levante side who are rock-bottom of La Liga and four points away from safety.

West Ham were first linked with the Spain U21 in February and The Daily Star claim the east London club have now launched an official transfer approach to acquire his services. Levante value Camarasa at £9.5million but could be forced to sell for less than a third of that sum during the coming transfer window, should they fail to beat the drop.

Meanwhile, London Evening Standard report that Spurs are on the verge of tying three of their key players – winger Erik Lamela, defender Jan Vertonghen and attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen – down to improved contracts following impressive campaigns at White Hart Lane.

The Lilywhites have been working on a new deal for the Danish international since the start of the season, whilst Vertonghen’s unresolved contract situation had previously created doubts over his future in north London. Lamela, meanwhile, was almost sold during the summer transfer window but has produced strong form this term, notching up nine goals and six assists across all competitions.

With Champions League football for next season all-but-mathematically secured, Tottenham hope to wrap up deals for all three within the coming weeks.
