Fraser Forster

According to reports from The Metro, Manchester United have identified Chelsea transfer target Fraser Forster as a potential replacement for goalkeeper David De Gea.

The Southampton No.1 claimed the Premier League’s Player of the Month award in February amid a run of 708 minutes without conceding and also impressed for England during the recent international break, coming on for Jack Butland against Germany and starting in a 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Chelsea are targeting the 6 foot 7 shot-stopper as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who recently hinted he could leave west London during the coming transfer window amid rumours of a summer move to Real Madrid.

But Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been a fixture on Real Madrid’s transfer radar since last summer, when his deadline day move to the Bernabeu infamously collapsed, and the La Liga giants are expected to revive their interest at the end of the season.

Should that be the case, The Metro – who cite reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes – claim the Red Devils will turn their attentions to the towering Southampton star, whose St. Mary’s contract will enter its final two years in the coming transfer window.

Of course, Real Madrid can’t sign both goalkeepers whilst Chelsea and Manchester United can’t both sign Forster. But it appears whoever loses their No.1 this summer will target the 28-year-old as their next first-choice goalkeeper.
