Ross Barkley vs Jonjo Shelvey

According to The Daily Star, Manchester United are set to launch a £45million transfer bid for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley; whilst The Sun claim Chelsea are targeting Southampton’s Fraser Forster as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois.

The attacking midfielder is enjoying yet another affluent season at Goodison Park, bagging eight goals and seven assists in 29 Premier League appearances this term, and is an important figure in Roy Hodgson’s plans for England’s Euro 2016 campaign.

According to The Daily Star, the 22-year-old’s scintillating form has attracted interest from Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window, leaving Everton ‘braced’ for a £45million bid. The Red Devils are also targeting £50million-rated duo Romelu Lukaku and John Stones but have earmarked Barkley as a priority target.

Meanwhile, The Sun claim Chelsea are lining up Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who surprisingly suggested last week that he could leave the club during the coming transfer window following rumours of a summer move to Real Madrid.

Should Los Blancos seal a transfer for the Belgium No.1, The Sun claim Chelsea will swoop for the 6 foot 7 England international, who picked up the Premier League’s Player of the Month award in February amid a run of 708 minutes without conceding.

The 28-year-old is reportedly rated at around £20million but is also a long-term transfer target of Barcelona. They’re eyeing the former Celtic ace as a potential replacement for understudy goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, who is attracting transfer interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.
