Romelu Lukaku vs Fabricio Coloccini

According to reports from The Daily Star, Antonio Conte wants to make Everton striker and Manchester United transfer target Romelu Lukaku his first major signing as Chelsea manager.

The west London club confirmed the Italy gaffer as their next manager earlier this week and according to The Daily Star, he’s already outlined Everton assassin Romelu Lukaku a priority target for the coming transfer window.

Since leaving Stamford Bridge in a £28million transfer two summers ago, the Belgium international has emerged as one of the most potent strikers in world football, bagging 18 league goals this season despite the Toffees languishing in mid-table.

It’s claimed the Blues are preparing a £50million transfer bid to re-sign the 22-year-old but they face competition for his signature throughout Europe and most notably from Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Lukaku has been dubbed a ‘main transfer target‘ for the Red Devils, who have scored the second-fewest goals of any side in the Premier League’s top half this season, and Mirror Football claim the Old Trafford outfit are in ‘pole position‘ to land the 6 foot 3 striker.

Manchester United still have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season whilst tenth-placed Chelsea probably won’t even be playing in the Europa League. Lukaku has recently described playing in Europe’s flagship tournament as the “next step” in his career.
