Indeed, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have all been linked throughout the season, with some sources claiming the Citizens have already launched a transfer bid and others alleging the 23-year-old’s agent has held talks with Jurgen Klopp regarding a potential Anfield transfer.
The Express document transfer interest from all three Premier League clubs once again but citing German newspaper Bild-Zeitung (whose report has been summarised RP Online), further claim that Arsenal are now leading the pack for Xhaka’s signature following a meeting between Arsene Wenger, representative Andy Gross and the player’s father.
The 39-cap international has made no secret of his desire to seal a transfer to the Premier League, recently telling reporters; “England is my dream. I do not hide it. Whether I’ll be happy there, only the good Lord knows. For me, money is not important. Otherwise, I would not move from Basel to Monchengladbach in 2012. It’s about being a big challenge for me as a footballer.”
Xhaka’s contract reportedly includes a £33.8million release clause.
