Toni Kroos

According to reports from AS, Arsenal have made an offer for Manchester United target Toni Kroos ahead of the summer transfer window.

The playmaking maestro moved to Real Madrid after lifting the 2014 World Cup with Germany but hasn’t quite hit the heights expected at the Bernabeu, often proving too lightweight in an engine room also containing Luka Modric and James Rodriguez.

AS claim he could resultantly look to leave the Spanish giants during the summer transfer window, having already received several offers from the Bundesliga and the Premier League – including one from Arsenal.

Gunners gaffer Arsene Wenger is known to be planning a midfield overhaul for the coming transfer window, with Bosman-bound veterans Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky expected to leave the club, and Kroos would certainly be seen as an exciting addition.

However, they are by no means alone in pursuing the 26-year-old. Mirror Football reported earlier this month that Manchester United have revived their interest in Kroos after almost signing him in summer 2014 – until incoming manager Louis van Gaal pulled the plug on a deal put in place by predecessor David Moyes.

Regarded as one of the top midfielders in world football, we could see the Premier League rivals scrap it out for his services during the summer transfer window if Real Madrid decide to sell.
