Olivier Giroud

According to The Times, Manchester City are set to sell defensive flop Eliaquim Mangala during the summer transfer window; whilst TuttoSport report that Juventus are targeting Arsenal frontman Olivier Giroud.

The France international arrived at the Etihad Stadium during summer 2014 in an eye-watering £42million deal, which remains a Premier League record transfer fee for a defender.

But the 6 foot 2 centre-half’s performances for the Citizens haven’t reached the levels expected, with a number of individual errors costing the two-time champions big results in important games.

The Times claim Pep Guardiola’s plans for a mini overhaul of the City squad during the summer transfer window will see the 25-year-old moved on – but the club seem set to suffer a huge loss on their original investment.

Meanwhile, TuttoSport claim Juventus will target Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud during the summer transfer window if they miss out on PSG frontman Edinson Cavani.

The France international started the campaign strongly but has struggled for form in recent weeks, bagging just two goals in his last 15 appearances across all competitions, and now finds himself stuck behind Danny Welbeck in the pecking order.

That lengthy goal drought, combined with Giroud’s contract entering its final two years, could see Arsenal decide to cash in on the 6 foot 4 striker during the coming transfer window, with the Italian news outlet claiming a bid between the £15million-£20million mark could convince the Gunners to sell.
