Martin Skrtel

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool are ‘likely’ to sell Martin Skrtel during the summer transfer window; whilst The Sun report that Chelsea are targeting Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oscar de Marcos.

The Slovakian centre-back is now into his ninth campaign at Anfield since agreeing a £6.5million transfer from Zenit in January 2008, although injury problems have limited him to just 18 Premier League outings so far this season.

He’s seen as an experienced influence on an otherwise temperamental Reds backline but nonetheless, Gianluca Di Marzio claim the Merseysiders are ‘likely’ to move on the 31-year-old during the summer transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp is preparing a defensive shakeup and has already signed a potential replacement in Joel Matip, who will move to Liverpool from FC Schalke on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, The Sun claim Chelsea are targeting Athletic Bilbao ace Oscar de Marcos, reportedly viewing him as an ‘ideal replacement’ for industrious midfielder Ramires – who sealed a £25m transfer to the Chinese Super League in January.

The 26-year-old is famed for his tenacity and versatility, deployed as a central midfielder, wide midfielder and a full-back throughout his career, and has been in good form this season with averages of 2.8 tackles and 2.9 interceptions per match.

The Sun fail to mention a potential transfer fee but Athletic Bilbao tend to source decent sums for their exports and the Spaniard’s San Memes contract doesn’t expire for another three years.
