Alessandro Florenzi

According to reports from TransferMarketWeb, Manchester United have joined Chelsea and Barcelona in targeting Roma star Alessandro Florenzi ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old’s mix of technical quality, industry and grit has seen him become a bit of a utility man at the Stadio Olimpico, featuring as a right-back, a right winger, a left winger and a central midfielder throughout the season, but he’s by no means an expendable figure in the Giallorossi starting Xi and often dons the armband in the absence of Daniele De Rossi and Francesco Totti.

The Italy international’s busy performances have been earning rave reviews and attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs for some time – Arsenal, Spurs and Barcelona were linked in November – but keenness to acquire his services via the transfer market has seriously escalated since Florenzi came third in the 2015 Puskas Award for a phenomenal long-range strike against the Catalans.

TransferMarketWeb claim Manchester United are the latest club to ‘survey’ the €28million-rated ace, along with long-term admirers Barcelona and Chelsea. The expected appointment of Italy boss Antonio Conte would certainly make a summer transfer to Stamford Bridge more plausible. But a product of Roma’s academy, it is thought that Florenzi wants to follow the paths of De Rossi and Totti in becoming a one-club man for the Italian capital outfit.
