According to London Evening Standard, West Ham are ready to make Manuel Lanzini’s loan move permanent in an £8million deal; whilst Corriere Dello Sport report that Roma are targeting Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.

The attacking midfielder arrived at Upton Park on loan from Al Jazira during the summer transfer window and has produced strong form in the Premier League, bagging four goals and one assist in 14 appearances whilst averaging 1.3 tackles, 1 created chance and 2.3 successful dribbles per match.

Talk of a permanent deal has circulated for some time, with a basic £8million agreement already in place, but London Evening Standard claim the Hammers were reluctant to sanction it whilst the Argentine was sidelined with a thigh injury.

But the 23-year-old has now recovered, featuring from the bench against Blackburn in the FA Cup last Sunday, and West Ham are now hoping to make his loan stay permanent next month. They’re also preparing a new contract for combative midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.

Meanwhile, Corriere Dello Sport have made the audacious claim that Roma are targeting Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany in a bid to rebuild a defence that has conceded the most goals of any side in the Serie A’s top five this season.

A deal seems unlikely, considering the Belgium international wears the captain’s armband, has been a bedrock of the City starting Xi since arriving from Anderlecht in 2008 and his contract isn’t set to expire for another three years.

In fact, even the Italian publication describe Giallorossi’s interest as simply ‘a dream’. But they also speculate that the situation could look very different once Pep Guardiola takes the Etihad hot seat during the summer, especially amid news that the incoming Citizens boss is targeting Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci.
