Liverpool and Manchester United were both linked with the 29-year-old last month, whilst The Sun moot Tottenham Hotspur as potential suitors as well.

But according to the British tabloid, Leicester City are hoping to fend off interest from their Premier League rivals by issuing the son of goalkeeping great Peter Schmeichel an improved contract. His current deal expires in 2018.

The Midlands outfit are also ready to offer right-back Danny Simpson, who has averaged two tackles and 2.9 interceptions per match this term, a new contract with justĀ 18 months left to run on his current terms.
