Balotelli 3

According to reports from The Independent and Calcio Mercato respectively, Wojciech Szczesny and Mario Balotelli are set to return to parent clubs Arsenal and Liverpool at the end of the season.

The Poland international joined Roma on loan during the summer following Petr Cech’s £10million arrival from Chelsea and has registered 20 appearances in Serie A.

But fifth-placed Giallorossi agreed a deal for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson earlier this week, meaning they won’t look to sign Szczesny permanently. With Cech a seemingly immovable figure between the Arsenal sticks, the 25-year-old may be forced to move on during the summer.

Meanwhile, Calcio Mercato report that Mario Balotelli looks set to endure a similar fate at AC Milan, with Rossoneri unlikely to make the Liverpool striker’s loan move permanent.

The £16million flop, who netted just once in the Premier League during his debut campaign at Anfield, is yet to find a goal in open play since returning to the San Siro last summer.

Manager Sinisa Mihajlovic recently revealed that he ‘expects’ more from the Italian international, telling reporters; “I expect more from Balotelli and that will come when his fitness gets better. His fitness has already improved and he did what he had to do. But you can see that he is not the real Balotelli yet. There is still something missing physically.”

Calcio Mercato claim that even though Liverpool are prepared to sell the 25-year-old for as little as €7million, Milan look set to send him back to Merseyside.
