Mega Blow: £60m Arsenal & Man United strike target reveals he wants Real Madrid transfer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

According to reports from The Daily Star, Arsenal and Manchester United strike target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he’d like to seal a transfer to Real Madrid.

The Borussia Dortmund frontman has netted 30 times across all competitions this season – including 20 Bundesliga goals in as many appearances – and is already being lined up for a summer transfer by a number of the Premier League’s top clubs.

Arsenal are known long-term admirers of the Gabon international and Liverpool have been mooted as potential suitors as well, whilst Manchester United are reportedly preparing a £60million bid for the summer transfer window.

But according to The Daily Star, who cite reports from French publication L’Equipe, the 27-year-old would prefer a summer move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, describing it as a childhood dream.

As quoted by the British tabloid, Aubameyang said; “My childhood dream? To play at Real Madrid. In 2014, before he died, I promised my grandfather who was from Avila, 110 kilometers from Madrid, that I would play there. It will be complicated, but it sits in a corner of my head.

“When I was a kid, I watched Hugo Sanchez videos. The backflip I sometimes do when I score is actually an homage to him. Real Madrid, or another great Spanish club, would also be a great gift to my mother.”

Worryingly for the 6 foot 2 striker’s Premier League suitors, this isn’t the first time he’s talked up a transfer to the Spanish top flight. Back in November, he told BBC World Service; “One day I’ll leave to play in another league. My dream is to play in Spain. Lots of people think that the Premier League would good for me but my mum is Spanish and I really have that dream to play over there.”
