According to BBC Sport, Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao missed out on a deadline day move to Atletico Madrid; whilst The Sun report that incoming manager Pep Guardiola is set to earn £21million per year at Manchester City.

The Colombian international has managed just one goal and eleven appearances this season amid a loan spell thwarted with injury problems and travelled to the Spanish capital yesterday to try and force a last-minute move to former club Atletico Madrid.

Both clubs were reportedly prepared to sanction a deal, via parent club Monaco, but the Mattress Makers eventually pulled out as Jackson Martinez’ planned transfer for the Chinese Super League fell through.

The 29-year-old could still switch to the MLS when their 2016 season starts up March, as previously speculated, but at the moment, he looks set to finish the campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, The Independent report that incoming manager Pep Guardiola will earn more than any Premier League player at Manchester City.

The Etihad outfit confirmed yesterday that the Bayern Munich boss will take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season and The Sun claim the Spaniard will take home a whopping £63million in salary alone if he sees out the duration of his three-year contract.

That works out at £21million per year and more per week than the Premier League’s current highest earner, Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney.
