Havard Nordtveit

According to reports from Mirror Football, Liverpool are targeting former Arsenal youngster Havard Nordtveit.

The Norway international failed to register a single first-team appearance during his four campaigns at the Emirates despite captaining the Gunners reserve team, but has somewhat lived up to his heralded ability since moving to Borussia Monchengladbach, at a cost of £800k, in January 2011.

Indeed, the 25-year-old has made over 130 Bundesliga appearances for Gladbach whilst filling a variety of positions, including right-back, centre-half, defensive midfield and central midfield, and has notched up four league goals this season.

Nordtveit’s contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign and according to Mirror Football, his availability has attracted interest from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who watched the 6 foot 2 utility man develop from afar during his time as Borussia Dortmund manager.

Liverpool are widely expected to make defensive additions this summer, having conceded the most goals of any side in the Premier League’s top half this season, and Nordtveit would seem to fit the bill.
