Javier Hernandez

According to reports from Deutsche Welle, CEO Michael Schade has admitted Bayer Leverkusen could be forced to sell Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool strike target Javier Hernandez during the summer transfer window.

The former Manchester United super-sub has been in incredible form since moving to the Bay Arena in a £7.3million deal last summer, bagging 22 goals across all competitions – including five strikes in the Champions League – and claiming the Bundesliga’s Player of the Month award for November.

The Mexico international was linked with a shock return to the Premier League during the January transfer window and Arsenal and Liverpool are believed to be targeting him with the view to a summer swoop – whilst Deutsche Welle document interest from Chelsea as well.

And Bayer CEO Michael Schade has now admitted that the club will be forced to consider substantial offers for their in-form frontman at the end of the season – although he hopes the added incentive of Champions League football will see Hernandez stay put.

As quoted by Deutsche Welle, Schade recently said in the printed edition of German newspaper Rheinische Post; “If we qualify for the Champions League then we have very good chances that he will stay with us. As things stand now we do not want to sell any player. We are, however, a commercial enterprise and there are limits. If there are huge offers, then we will consider them.”

To give some idea of what a ‘huge offer’ might constitute for the Bay Arena outfit, Son Heung-Min’s £22million move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer was the most lucrative sale in the club’s history.
