According to Mirror Football, Tottenham Hotspur will launch a bid for West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino in the next 48 hours; whilst The Irish Independent report that Watford’s owners could use their foreign clubs to sign Liverpool striker Jerome Sinclair on the cheap.

The 22-year-old striker’s £22million move to White Hart Lane infamously fell through last summer and the Lilywhites are widely expected to revive their interest before the January transfer window slams shut on February 1st.

Mirror Football claim that the north London club are now set to launch an £18million bid within the next few days, using the funds from Andros Townsend’s all-but-completed £12million transfer to Newcastle United.

However, the Baggies are believed to have already rejected several bids this month – including one from the north Londoners – and reportedly value the Burundi-born forward at a pricey £30million.

Meanwhile, The Irish Independent report that Watford have hatched a devilish plan to avoid paying a compensation fee for Liverpool contract rebel Jerome Sinclair.

The 19-year-old is rated as one of the club’s most exciting youngsters – recently finding the net in an FA Cup outing against Exeter City – but talks to extend his contract past the end of the season have stalled and he now looks set to leave Anfield.

As the striker is under the age of 24, avid suitors Watford would have to pay a compensation fee decided by a tribunal, likely around £5million, to sign him on a free transfer during the summer. But The Irish Independent claim Watford’s owners, the Pozzo family, could use one of their foreign clubs to sign Sinclair before loaning him to the Vicarage Road outfit.

Pozzo-owned Udinese and Granada, for example, would only have to pay around £200k in compensation because it would count as an international transfer under FIFA rather than FA rules.
