Paul Pogba

According to The Sun, Real Madrid are hoping to beat Manchester City to Juventus star Paul Pogba with a £100million bid; whilst Sky Sports report that Shakhtar Donetsk will not stand in the way of Chelsea target Alex Teixeira joining a top European club.

Since swapping Old Trafford for the Old Lady in summer 2012, former Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba has emerged as one of the leading central midfielders in world football, combining a powerful 6 foot 2 frame with technical trickery and a consistent supply of goals.

The Sun claim Barcelona and Manchester City were set for a feisty bidding war over the France international at the end fo the season, but now face competition from Real Madrid – who are planning a world-record £100million bid.

The 22-year-old was believed to be leaning towards a Nou Camp move but the presence of Tricolores legend Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu, after he took the managerial reigns from Rafa Benitez last week, could sway him towards a Los Blancos switch instead.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports report that Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu would give in-demand attacker Alex Teixeira his blessing if he were to leave the Ukrainian outfit for one of the ‘top clubs in Europe’.

Premier League champions and rumoured suitors Chelsea, who have been linked with the 25-year-old continuously over the last few months, certainly fall into that category.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Lucescu said; “If there is an offer that will satisfy both player and the club I will fully support his move. At the moment, Alex is Shakhtar’s player. We’ll see in the summer, now there’s no point talking about it. This year, he needs to play so that he grows even more, despite the fact that Alex’s level is very high even today.

“I want to see my players perform in the best, top teams in Europe. This means that both my assistants and I have not been working in vain for so many years.”

Chelsea have been tipped to launch a £30million bid for Teixeira this month, following a flurry of 26 goals in as many appearances for Shakhtar this season.
