According to reports from The Express, Manchester United have stepped up their interest in defender Ricardo Rodriguez – who was part of the Wolfsburg side that eliminated them from the Champions League last month.
The Switzerland international, who featured prominently for his country at the 2014 World Cup, has emerged as one of the most exciting full-backs in Europe over the last few years with 13 goals and 19 assists in his last 96 Bundesliga outings – including two strikes in 12 appearances this season.

The 23-year-old has often been mooted as a potential target of Europe’s top clubs – including Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid – but rumours of an Old Trafford switch have escalated since resident No.3 Luke Shaw suffered a double-leg break in December.
According to The Express, who cite German publication Bild, the Red Devils are now stepping up their efforts to sign Rodriguez – who provided an assist as Wolfsburg eliminated Louis van Gaal’s side from the Champions League in a 3-2 December affair – in the hope of completing a deal before the end of the January transfer window.
Die Wolfe reportedly rate the 5 foot 11 left-back at around £30million.
