Gareth Bale

According to Mirror Football, Manchester United are lining up a world-record bid for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale; whilst Sky Sports report that Liverpool have dismissed rumours claiming they’re about to sign Alexandre Pato.

The Wales international was said to be ‘intensely disappointed‘ by Rafa Benitez’s sacking earlier this month, leading to reports of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United reviving their interest in the former Tottenham Hotspur star.

The 26-year-old is reportedly more than happy to work under replacement Zinedine Zidane until at least the end of the season but citing The Times, Mirror Football claim the Red Devils are hoping to lure him away from the Bernabeu with a record-breaking £90million bid.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports report that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dismissed claims the club are on the verge of signing former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato.

The 26-year-old has become one of the January transfer window’s hottest topics as he eyes a return to European football following productive spells with Sao Paolo and Corinthians, and The Daily Star reported yesterday that he’d agreed an £11million move to Anfield.

But in today’s pre-match press conference ahead of the Reds’ Premier League clash with Arsenal, Klopp simply told reporters; “My private advice to you is don’t follow the Pato path any longer,” after being quizzed on the club’s interest in the Brazil international.
