According to Mirror Football, Liverpool have seen an £8million bid for striker Shane Long rejected by Southampton; whilst The Telegraph report that Arsenal have raided Leicester City for Head of Technical Scouting Ben Wigglesworth.

The Ireland forward has claimed 38 goals in 192 appearances throughout his Premier League career, spanning spells with Reading, West Bromwich Albion, Hull City and Southampton.

Liverpool were reported to be considering an £8million bid for the 28-year-old last week and it at appears they’ve now launched it, only for the Saints to reject their approach. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to add firepower to his squad this month, with Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings all injured and Christian Benteke failing to prove worthy of a starring role.

Ronald Koeman’s side, however, could part with target man Graziano Pelle after signing Charlie Austin from QPR last week. Juventus are keen on signing the Italy international, whose contract expires at the end next season.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph report that Arsenal have poached Leicester City’s Head of Technical Scouting Ben Wigglesworth.

He helped bring Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante to the King Power Stadium, who have both emerged as key players in the Foxes’ unexpected Premier League title bid. Kante has featured in all of Leicester’s 22 league games so far this term, whilst Mahrez has bagged 13 goals and seven assists in 20 starts.

Arsenal agreed a deal with Wigglesworth last year. But after a spell on gardening leave, he’ll officially begin working at the Emirates within the next few weeks.
