According to reports from The Metro, Manchester United are ready to offer £50million for Everton’s in-form frontman Romelu Lukaku.
Only Leicester City’s record-breaking striker Jamie Vardy has scored more Premier League goals than the Belgium international this season, who boasts twelve goals in 16 outings – including a strike in a 1-1 draw with Norwich City this afternoon. That brings his total in the English top flight to 54 goals in 128 appearances – an incredible return for a 22-year-old.

Citing Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, The Metro claim the 6 foot 3 striker’s recent form has caught the attention of Manchester United, who are struggling for goals this season. Before this weekend’s round of fixtures, they’d scored the fewest times of any club in the Premier League’s top six, with strikeforce Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial netting just five times between them.
The Red Devils are reportedly preparing a £50million bid, which would be the most the Old Trafford outfit have ever paid for a striker. But Everton will be reluctant to lose Lukaku midseason and the Goodison club showed their resolve in the summer, rejecting a succession of Chelsea bids for John Stones.
