Ademola Lookman

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Manchester City are leading Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs in the race to sign Charlton Athletic prodigy Ademola Lookman.

The 18-year-old received his first-team debut in November and but has already scored three goals for the Championship outfit, including a brace against Bolton on Tuesday night.

The forward’s miraculous rise since joining the club’s youth system from Lambeth-based outfit Waterloo FC just last year has not gone unnoticed by the Premier League’s top clubs. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur were all linked with the teenager last week.

But despite the Gunners already scouting Lookman on at least five occasions this season and the Blues also believed to be particularly keen, The Daily Mail put Manchester City at the front of the queue to sign the Addicks starlet – claiming they have ‘shown the most interest’ so far.

The Etihad outfit’s plans to steadily improve their home-grown contingent are no great secret, having added England internationals Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph as well as former Fulham youngster Patrick Roberts to their squad during the summer.
