According to talkSPORT, Everton and Liverpool have been ‘put on alert’ by reports claiming Marseille captain Steve Mandanda is considering a move to the Premier League. 

The 30-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the French top flight, having thrice claimed the division’s Goalkeeper of the Year Award since his Marseille debut in 2007 – including last season’s.

The France international’s Stade Velodrome contract expires next summer and reports from France have suggested he’s eyeing a move to the Premier League.

talkSPORT claim that has put Everton and Liverpool ‘on alert’ ahead of the January transfer window, with respective No.1s Tim Howard and Simon Mignolet both coming under criticism for their performances this season.

But the Merseyside rivals already have some catching up to do in the race to sign the 6 foot 1 shot-stopper. According to Canal+, an unnamed Premier League club have already submitted a bid for Mandanda.
