According to reports from The Express, Manchester United midfield target Marco Grujic has confirmed interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The 19-year-old measures in at a whopping 6 foot 3 and has resultantly been compared to the Blues’ midfield monolith Nemanja Matic.

He featured prominently as Serbia won the U20 World Cup in New Zealand during the summer and has been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG since the start of the season.

The Red Devils ran the rule over Grujic during last month’s Belgrade derby; a 3-0 win over FK Rad Beograd in which he opened the scoring with a 30-yard piledriver.

However, Chelsea are widely viewed as the front-runners in the race to sign the teenage prodigy – with some sources even claiming they’ve already tabled a €4million bid – and Grujic has now confirmed the west London outfit’s interest after talking to his aforementioned compatriot Nemanja Matic.

As quoted by The Express, he said; “Nemanja Matic is a friend, he’s Serbian and he has been at Chelsea for over a year. He tells me that they want me.”

The youngster then revealed that he would be open to a move next summer after winning a domestic title at Belgrade, adding; “Right now I am at Red Star, we are top of the table and I want to win the title here. I don’t think that I’ll be moving in January, but there’s definitely more of a chance in June.”

Red Star are currently 16 points clear at the top of the SuperLiga table.
