According to reports from The Express, Tottenham Hotspur are leading Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Brazil front man Alexandre Pato.
The 26-year-old burst onto the scene in 2007 as AC Milan’s free-scoring teenager, bagging 51 goals in 117 Serie A appearances for the Italian giants, but left the San Siro in 2012 following a spate of injury problems.
The Corinthians striker has resurrected his career somewhat during an 18 month loan spell with Sao Paulo, producing 38 goals in 94 appearances including 26 during the 2015 campaign, and has been tipped to return to European football in January.
The Brazil international been linked with a number of Premier League clubs over the past few months, most notably Manchester United and West Ham, whilst reports last week suggested he’s already agreed a deal in principle to join Liverpool.
However, those claims were based on comments from Corinthians chairman Roberto de Andrade which he has since retracted, insisting that there is currently no ‘concrete offer’.
And The Express now report, citing Calcionews24, that Spurs are leading the chase for the 5 foot 11 forward’s signature. It’s claimed negotiations are already underway, with an £8million bid being discussed.
