According to reports from Spanish publication Marca, Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev could join Everton or Liverpool on loan in January.
The Russian international’s impressive form on loan at Villarreal last season, claiming four goals and nine assists in 24 La Liga appearances, saw him linked with Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool throughout the summer transfer window.
The Reds are believed to have even tabled a £15million bid, but the 24-year-old rejected the chance to move Merseyside after holding crunch talks with the Real Madrid hierarchy in August.
However, the 5 foot 11 attacker has gone on to see just 56 minutes’ worth of action in La Liga and the Champions League combined since his summer talks and earlier this month admitted to a breakdown in communication with Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez.
And Marca claim Cheryshev is now desperate to secure a loan move for the second half of the season, fearing that his place in Russia’s Euro 2016 squad has come under threat due to a lack of game time.
The Spanish publication put Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool in the frame, whilst former loan club Villarreal and Valencia represent interest from La Liga.
