According to reports from Bild via SportWitness and The Metro, Liverpool are closely monitoring Thomas Muller’s situation at Bayern Munich with a view to making a potential bid.
The 26-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most talented and unique attacking threats in world football, his definitive mix of physicality, technical flair, versatility and netting prowess seeing him claim 140 goals in 324 appearances for the Bavarians alongside ten goals and the last two World Cups – helping fire Germany to the title in 2014.
Manchester United were hot on the 68-cap international’s heels during the summer, reportedly tabling a world-record £88million bid at one point, and found themselves linked again earlier this week amid news that Muller is stalling on a new contract at the Allianz Arena that will extend his current terms until 2021.
But according to Bild, the Red Devils are no longer alone in the race to sign Muller; with north-west rivals Liverpool also eyeing the 6 foot 1 star. They’re reportedly monitoring his contract situation in the hope it could lead to an abrupt departure, with two-time Bundesliga winner Jurgen Klopp a significant factor in attracting the Bayern star to Anfield.
