Robin van Persie

According to reports from The Express, former Arsenal and Manchester United star Robin van Persie has dismissed rumours that he’s been offered a return to the Premier League with Chelsea.

The Netherlands’ all-time leading goalscorer netted 144 goals in 280 appearances throughout his Premier League career, winning a second Golden Boot and lifting the title with the Red Devils in 2013.

He left Old Trafford for Fernerbahce during the summer but has endured a difficult start to life in the Turkey, finding just six goals in 19 appearances across all competitions and reportedly falling out with manager Vitor Pereira over a lack of playing time.

That saw the former Arsenal captain linked with a shock move to Barcelona last month, with the European champions expected to hit the market once their transfer embargo is lifted in the new year, whilst Chelsea have also been mooted as surprise suitors.

But the 32-year-old striker has insisted that he’s fully committed to Fenerbahce and has not received any offers to leave. As quoted by The Express, he told Turkish Football; “There is a lot of talk about Chelsea and Barcelona but I have received no offers and I am dedicated to Fenerbahce.”

It follows an official statement from the club, which reads; “Over recent days there were many transfer reports about Robin van Persie in the media, but these are against our player’s motivation. We don’t have any plan for selling him and he wants to stay with us too. He is a valuable player of our squad and he is going to play for us.”
