Attacking Midfield - Wayne Rooney

According to reports from The Sun, Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney is wanted as the new face of Chinese football; whilst The Daily Mail report that ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers could take over a club in Qatar.

Asian football recently signed an unprecedented £830million television deal and they want to use the funds to revolutionise their game, bringing in major profiles from Europe to boost its popularity.

Former Premier League stars Momo Sissoko, Robinho and Tim Cahill already ply their trade in China, whilst former England boss Sven Goran-Eriksen is the current manager of Shanghai Dongya FC, and The Sun claim Wayne Rooney is the Chinese Super League’s latest target.

The United captain’s contract doesn’t expire until 2019 but his representatives are reportedly considering all possibilities in regards to the 30-year-old’s long-term future.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail report that former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is in the Middle East to discuss a lucrative contract with an unnamed Qatari club.

The Northern Irishman was sacked in favour of Jurgen Klopp at the start of October and although initially expected to take a break from the beautiful game, has been tempted by the proposal of a £3million per year contract.
