Sofiane Feghouli

According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Chelsea and Manchester United target Sofiane Feghouli has revealed he intends to sign a new contract with Valencia.

The Algeria international’s contract situation, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, has seen him emerge as one of the most sought-after players on the market over the last few months.

Eyeing the opportunity to snap up one of La Liga’s best winger’s on the cheap, no less than eight clubs are believed to be tracking the 25-year-old ahead of the January transfer window. That includes Chelsea and Manchester United, whose scouts watched Feghouli in action last month, whilst Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to meet with the winger’s agent and discuss a potential contract offer.

But Valencia are still optimistic of agreeing new terms with the African attacker, who scored Algeria’s first World Cup goal for 28 years at Brazil 2014, and it appears Feghouli reciprocates their willingness to extend his Mestalla stay past next summer.

As quoted by Calcio Mercato, who cite French publication beIN Sport, he said; “Every day, I hear a rumor about my future, but I am calm. Since the beginning of 2014 I have been saying that I want to renew. I asked the club to sign a new deal before the World Cup. I’m sure that we’ll find an agreement, but we must be patient. I am happy here and I am optimistic.”
