According to reports from The Metro this morning, Roma are considering a January bid for Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy.
The France right-back moved to the Emirates from Newcastle in a £12million deal last summer and was expected to become the Gunners’ resident No.2.
But a spate of injury problems combined with the sudden rise of Spain U21 Hector Bellerin has seen Debuchy make just eleven Premier League appearances since the start of the 2014/15 campaign. This term, he’s seen just 67 minutes of league action.
The 30 year-old is now expected to ‘review his future in January‘ after missing out on a place in Didier Deschamps’ latest France squad and a host of clubs have been linked in recent weeks, including former employers Newcastle, PSG and Monaco.
And according to The Metro, who cite French publication Le10Sport, a new rival for Debuchy’s signature has emerged in the form of Roma. They claim the Serie A outfit are keen to strengthen at right-back in the hope of improving their title chances, currently laying four points off the top of the table in fourth place.
