According to reports from talkSPORT on Thursday, Tottenham Hotspur are leading local rivals Arsenal in the race to sign Red Star Belgrade prodigy Luka Jovic.

The 5 foot 11 front-man is just 17 years of age but has already established himself as a first team star at Rakjo Mitic Stadium, netting 10 times in 32 league appearances since his May 2014 debut.

He’s the youngest goalscorer in the club’s history, beating the record previously held by former Lazio and Inter Milan star Dejan Stankovic, and has also amassed an impressive twelve goals and 21 caps for Serbia across the youth levels – ranging from U16 to U19.

According to talkSPORT, who cite Italian publication CalcioMercato, Arsenal and Benfica have been scouting Jovic for some time, whilst Serie A champions Juvenus are also considered long-term admirers.

But they claim Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the race for the wonderkid’s signature. Jovic is reportedly attracted by the Lilywhites’ willingness to develop and improve young players through first team opportunities.
